Egle Zalciu Karaliene
Egle Zalciu Karaliene is inspired by a Lithuanian folk tale set beneath the sea, in an imagined amber palace shaped by myth, transformation, and devotion to the natural world. This underwater realm has long fascinated me as a place of quiet power, intimacy, and stillness.
Throughout the series, touches of gold appear within the paintings, referencing amber and light — elements tied to both the story and my own sense of memory and meaning. These details shimmer subtly rather than dominate, suggesting something precious held beneath the surface. The work does not aim to retell the tale, but to inhabit its atmosphere, inviting reflection on beauty, myth, and the quiet pull of unseen worlds.
